London Olympics 2012

For the London 2012 Olympic Games, the first games in history without any fatalities during the build, Gallowglass Health and Safety provided the Health and Safety Manager and a team of onsite safety advisors to help their client deliver more than 170,000 m2 of tents and 101,000 seats of grandstands on over 72 competition and non-competition venues in London and across the country.

This included the grandstands at Greenwich Park equestrian venue, Eton Dorney rowing lake, the Riverside Arena hockey venue, Lee Valley White Water Centre and the BMX venue. Tents were installed in every competition and non-competition venue up and down the country from 5mx5m garden tents to 25mx55m triple deck tents and 14m high training venues. The health and safety manager Gallowglass Health and Safety provided, produced all risk assessments, method statements, policies, tool box talks and support to make sure the entire scope was delivered safely.

Gallowglass Health and Safety were also involved in the London 2012 Olympics with several other clients overseeing; the installation of all the temporary plumbing works, all of the Olympic flags, signs and advertising around London and the UK and supervising the internal fit out of the hospitality marquees. Through relevant and specialist event industry experience Gallowglass Health and Safety lost no working hours or days across all its activities and fully understood the unique requirements of all their Clients.
