England Rugby 2015

Gallowglass Health and Safety was the appointed England Rugby 2015 H&S Advisor in 2014 and managed all aspects of planning and co-ordination of the tournament. Our advisors were based in all 13 stadiums of the tournament to manage the health and safety responsibilities during build, event, de-rig and post event.

As with the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Gallowglass Health and Safety also managed the safe delivery of the opening ceremony for this tournament.

The Rugby World Cup is the third biggest sporting tournament in the World with a total of 2,447,875 people attending matches throughout the tournament. The final was estimated to have attracted an audience of 120 million making it the most successful Rugby World Cup Tournament to date.

The main challenge when working at the tournament was the change in legislation, namely The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015. However, due to our approach to managing events proactively with safety always in mind, the new legislation and principals were adopted to help manage all venues successfully.
