Gallowglass Health & Safety is a leading event’s health and safety consultancy working in the events and entertainment sector.  Based in either London or Manchester the role is to provide Health & Safety Advice to clients.  In brief this will involve providing them the necessary documentation, generating high quality reports and working on site to ensure compliance.  The role requires extensive travel in both the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Main Responsibilities

  • Liaising with suppliers / local authorities and other relevant external regulatory bodies depending on location
  • Writing documentation including event safety management plans, risk assessments and method statements
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
  • Preparing accident / incident reports and produce statistics for managment
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the entertainment, event and sporting event industries
  • Producing job reports on the completion of each project and keep records on the company’s intranet of inspection findings
  • Ensuring that the hours allocated to the task are not exceeded
  • Attending production meetings
  • Inspecting site for potential health and safety issues
  • Preparing and carrying out site inductions for all contractors and site management teams
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to ensure that policies and procedures are being implemented and that working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers
  • Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the necessary administrative skills and experience to immediately add value to the work of the team and company by ensuring the timely delivery of delegated tasks and quality services under general supervision only.  The appointee will:

  • Possess very well developed interpersonal and communication skills both face to face and by telephone
  • Be capable of exercising a high degree of delegated responsibility
  • Have good organizational, and technical skills relevant to the role with the ability to problem solve
  • Pay attention to detail and deliver work to a high standard and to tight deadlines
  • Have a good sense of humour

Essential Education Qualifications, Attainments and Experience

  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum and working towards a higher level qualification
  • Good general level of education
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy - to include competence in the following Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, file management and the internet
